SMS / Text Messaging Policy
Plain-language summary of how Trivia Tonite uses text messages, why, and how to stop them at any time. This is a working draft, not legal advice; the official policy will be posted before launch.
Who sends these messages
Trivia Tonite is operated by Humanjava Enterprises Inc., a Canadian corporation. We send text messages (SMS) to the phone number you provide so you can log in and play. Message delivery is handled by our messaging provider (Twilio).
What messages we send
- One-time login codes. When you enter your phone number to play, we text you a numeric code to confirm the number is yours and sign you in. Your number is your identity — there are no passwords.
- Game & account notifications. Service messages tied to playing — for example, a reminder that tonight’s show is starting, a result or win notification, or a prompt to claim a prize you won.
We do not send marketing or promotional text messages, and we never text you on behalf of a sponsor.
How you opt in (consent)
You opt in by entering your mobile phone number in the Trivia Tonite app and requesting a login code. That action is your consent to receive the one-time code and the game/account notifications described above. We do not add your number to texting from any other source, and we do not buy or import phone lists.
Message frequency
Frequency varies with how you play. You receive a login code each time you sign in, plus occasional game and account notifications on the nights you play. We aim to keep it minimal.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan and carrier. Trivia Tonite is free to play and we never charge you to receive a text.
Stopping messages & getting help
From any text we send:
- STOP — reply STOP to opt out and stop receiving messages. You’ll get one confirmation, then no further texts. (Note: if you stop texts you may no longer be able to receive a login code to play.)
- HELP — reply HELP for help; we’ll reply with how to reach us and a link to this policy.
- START — reply START to opt back in after a previous STOP.
You can also opt out at any time by contacting us at the address below.
Your privacy
We store your phone number only as a one-way hash and never display the raw number to other players. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers and SMS opt-in data and consent are used solely to deliver the messages described here; they are never sold, rented, or shared for marketing. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
